Clean Water Project Reaches 10,000 Beneficiaries

Our clean water initiative has now reached 10,000 people across 12 villages with safe drinking water through deep wells and distribution systems.

The Imtiaz Foundation's Clean Water Initiative has reached a significant milestone: 10,000 beneficiaries across 12 villages now have reliable access to safe drinking water. The initiative, which began three years ago with a single well in Kunduz province, has expanded through partnerships with international donors and the dedication of our field teams. Each installation involves geological survey, community consultation, well drilling, pump installation, and the training of local maintenance committees. Before the wells were installed, women and children in many of these communities walked up to three hours daily to collect water from contaminated streams. Waterborne illnesses, particularly diarrheal diseases affecting children under five, have dropped dramatically in communities served by the project. "My children no longer miss school to fetch water," said one mother from a beneficiary village. "And they are healthier than they have ever been." The Foundation's next phase targets an additional 20 villages, with construction beginning in the coming spring.
