Volunteer Medical Camp Serves Remote Villages in Nuristan
A team of 12 volunteer doctors and nurses conducted a three-day medical camp in Nuristan, providing free consultations and medicines to over 800 patients.
A three-day volunteer medical camp organized by the Imtiaz Foundation and its partner medical network recently concluded in Nuristan province, bringing essential healthcare to communities that rarely see trained medical professionals.
The camp was staffed by 12 volunteer doctors and nurses who traveled by road and foot to reach the remote district. Over three days, the team conducted 847 consultations covering general medicine, maternal health, pediatric care, and basic dental services.
Medications covering common conditions — respiratory infections, skin diseases, malnutrition, and musculoskeletal complaints — were distributed free of charge. Forty-three patients were identified as requiring specialist follow-up and have been referred to partner facilities in Kabul and Jalalabad, with the Foundation covering transport costs.
"Many of our patients had never seen a doctor in their lives," said the lead physician. "We saw conditions that could have been prevented with basic health education and earlier intervention."
The Foundation is planning two additional medical camp deployments before the end of the year. Medical professionals interested in volunteering can register through our website.
