Afghanistan has one of the world's highest rates of child orphanhood, with an estimated 2 million children having lost one or both parents. The Imtiaz Foundation's Orphan Sponsorship Programme connects donors with verified orphan cases, providing a monthly stipend to cover school fees, clothing, food supplements, and basic medical costs. Each sponsored child is registered in our system with a unique case file. Sponsors receive a semi-annual update including the child's school progress, a photograph, and a brief narrative report prepared by our field coordinator. All identifying information is handled with strict privacy safeguards. Currently, the programme supports 240 children across five provinces. The Foundation's goal is to expand to 500 sponsored children within two years. Individuals and organisations can both sponsor children; corporate sponsors may sponsor cohorts of 10 or more.
