Internally displaced persons in Afghanistan face enormous hardship, particularly during winter months when temperatures in many regions fall well below freezing. Many displaced families live in informal settlements without adequate shelter, heating, or insulation. This project procures and distributes winter shelter kits to 500 displaced families in camps and informal settlements across Kabul, Nangarhar, and Balkh. Each kit contains two heavy blankets, a plastic sheeting set for insulation, a small portable stove, and a supply of solid fuel sufficient for one month. Distribution is coordinated with camp management committees and verified against displacement registers to ensure kits reach genuine beneficiaries. A post-distribution monitoring survey is conducted two weeks after distribution to assess usage and identify any outstanding needs.
